Today, the Karungu community joyfully celebrated the Feast of St. Camillus de Lellis born on 14 July 1550 in Bucchianico and died on 14 July 1614 in Italy. He is honoured as the patron saint of the sick, hospitals, nurses, and healthcare workers.

We commemorated three significant milestones: the Feast of St. Camillus, the 50th anniversary of the Camillians’ presence in Kenya, and the temporary profession of three novices: Peter Arege, Caroli Omondi, and Clinton Ongeri.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Dominic Mwanzia, the superior delegate, who received the profession of the three novices.

It was animated by the Dala Kiye children, who later entertained the congregation alongside the children from BL Special School.

Patients and staff on duty were served with drinks and cupcakes, while guests and the families of the newly professed novices shared a celebratory lunch in the community dining hall.

After lunch, three cakes were cut to mark the occasion: one celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Camillians in Kenya by the Delegate Superior, another honouring St. Camillus day by the Karungu Community, and a third celebrating the newly professed novices by themselves.

The festivities concluded with guests receiving commemorative T-shirts and umbrellas as gifts, making it a memorable day of thanksgiving, fellowship, and celebration,

Dala Kiye children also celebrated the day with a cake
