B.L. TEZZA – KARUNGU NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR ORPHANS

Born in September 1999, near St. Camillus M. Hospital, it is run by the local community of Karungu. It is attended by 360 orphaned children (data from November 2006) who have lost one or both parents who died from AIDS. Their age is between 2 and 12 years. In the school there is a 2-year kindergarten and primary classes lasting 8 years; children attend school from 8 in the morning until 17.

There are different forms of sponsorship for these orphans, the number of which will increase with the spread of AIDS.

  • 320 € (euro) for a school year (the commitment should be throughout the period of primary – 8 years).
  • 50 € (euro) for the monthly purchase of teaching material.
  • 50 € (euro) to provide breakfast.
  • 100 € (euro) to provide monthly lunch

Our goal is to give these children the opportunity to improve their living conditions by attending school and receiving meals.

The secondary school is part of the B.L. Tezza complex. It has been operational since February 2005.   The school is registered as a government and is managed by an internal committee. The Camillians are the main sponsor as well as offering the structure. Once the four years of secondary school are over, children will have access to university.
